Nico was born in Maaseik, Belgium, in 1965, but
has lived half of his life outside of his country of origin. He
has been working for international organisations since 1994, and
he currently works as a software engineer for the European Southern
Observatory, where he is heavily involved in the Interferometer
project of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) on Paranal (Chile). Nico
is divorced and lives in Antofagasta, a quiet mining town wedged
in between the Chilean Atacama desert (according to many people
*the* most arid desert in the world) and the Pacific Ocean.
Update September 2005: Nico has taken up employment with another organisation and has moved to Germany!
